Who we are
Motivated by personal experiences working among the poor and their practical work and fundraising activities with churches, community groups, mission agencies, aid and development organisations and other charitable groups, founders Rob Kilpatrick and Eric Holmes decided to set up Smallternative.
Having seen many smaller aid and development groups floundering overseas due to insufficient funds, overlooked by larger organisations that supported only bigger projects, Smallternative was set up as a vehicle to help those smaller impactful groups do their work.
What we do
Initially only forwarding funds to projects, and due to changes in how charities register, Smallternative was called upon to provide expertise in report writing, forming policy, preparing grant applications and other critical documentation. Thus Smallternative began to expand its reach through helping other charities in addition to its own work.
